Description summary
You join Wattpad’s Core Platforms team to build and improve the backend systems that power its global storytelling platform. You help design, code, and maintain large distributed services in Go and PHP, working with tools like Redis, MySQL, S3, and DynamoDB to handle very high traffic. You are responsible for creating shared tools and frameworks for other engineers, improving reliability and performance, writing tests, and guiding best practices across the team. To succeed, you bring 5 to 7 or more years of software experience, strong skills in Go and PHP, and hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes or ECS, and monitoring at scale. The role is full time, remote friendly for people authorized to work in the US or Canada (except Quebec), with strong benefits, support for learning, generous vacation and leave, and optional offices in Toronto and Halifax.
